HUACARIA COMMUNITY

Day 1: Cusco (3,300 masl) – Cloud forest (1,700 masl) – Pilcopata (600 masl)
We will leave Cusco very early in the morning in one of our vehicles. We will cross interesting valleys between the Andes mountains and picturesque rural communities. We will visit the pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture and then we will stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial city, and visit the interesting city museum. On the way, we will have lunch in the cloud forest. We will continue our descent through the cloud forest, an area rich in endemic species, such as the spectacled bear and the cock of the rock, the Peruvian national bird that performs a unique courtship ritual. We can also see orchids, bromeliads, ferns, etc. We will continue observing spectacular nature throughout our trip until we reach our lodge, Pilcopata Inn, where we will spend our first night.

Day 2: bicycle from Pilcopata to the Huacaria community visit to the botanical garden and purchase of handicrafts and tasting of typical dishes and unikayak in the Madre de Dios river
We will have breakfast very early and then we will put on our safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, knee pads, and then ride high-end bicycles to the community of Huacaria on a 1:30 hour tour. between flat and undulating sections to enjoy the landscape, observation of flora and fauna. In addition, we will be able to appreciate handicrafts made by them, from seeds and natural fiber, then we will be able to observe and enjoy their typical dances organized by the school and teachers. Then we will enjoy your gastronomy based on fish (such as Patarashca with its yucca and grilled banana), after this pleasant moment on the way back, the guide will explain about medicinal plants typical of the area, then we will go to Atalaya an average of one hour by car where our Unikayak will be waiting for us to be able to navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River for a period of two hours with all the safety equipment such as helmets, vests and a safety motor boat night walk to appreciate the flora and fauna..

Day 3: Amazon Manu Lodge – Machuwasi lake Mammals Collpa and sport fishing (500 masl)
Breakfast. Then we will take a walk through the forest for 2 to 3 hours. Later we will return to the lodge to have lunch and then bathe in the river. After lunch, you will also have the option of doing Artisanal Fishing. Then we will visit the Machuwasi Lake, where we will explore on rafts to observe birds, such as the prehistoric Hoatzin bird and with luck, other animals such as monkeys, capybaras, among others. We return to the lodge, have dinner, and finally take a night walk to appreciate amphibians, tarantulas, among others.

Day 4: Amazon Manu Lodge - Macaw clay lick - Cusco
Very early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the Macaw Clay Lick, a wall along the river bank where different species of parrots, such as the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, the macaw with chestnut brow among others, meet every morning. Here they eat the clay, which is rich in minerals and helps them digest and eliminate toxins from their bodies.

Afterwards, we will return to our lodge for a delicious breakfast. Then we will board our boat back to the Port of Atalaya, where our bus awaits us to take us back to Cusco. We will have lunch along the route back to Cusco and arrive around 5:30-6:30 p.m..

Manu Cultural Zone 3D

We will depart from Cusco very early in the morning in one of our vehicles. We will traverse beautiful valleys between the Andes Mountains and picturesque countryside communities.

Manu Cultural Zone 5D

Very early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the macaw clay lick, a wall along the riverbank where different species of parrots, such as the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, chestnut-fronted macaw.

Manu Cultural Zone 7D

Today, we will get a very early again to eat breakfast and take walks around our lodge and Lake Otorongo. There is an observation tower located 15 meters from the lake in order to allow us to appreciate the landscape.
