Full day Tour to Sandoval Lake
You will receive a brief explanation of the tour and important tips before departure.( in the morning between 8: 00 am )
Transport to the Sandoval Lake. Trip by outboard boat for around 55 minutes, until the access trail to the Lake. During the river trip you will have the opportunity to observe the style of live of local people living at the bank of the river.
Hike 3 Km to the banks of the lake. We will observe the great diversity of species of flora in this zone and maybe a troop of monkeys or other animals which live in the Reserve. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzin (unique prehistoric looking birds), cormorant’s monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant river otters which live there.
Lunch in the canoe or in a typical local lodge. After lunch we will have the opportunity to have a relax time or swim in the lake.
Late in the afternoon, a lot of noisy parrots and macaws arrive to palm trees around the lake to their nets to pass the nighIt is time to begin our return to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado.
